The network marketing business model uses the concept of “word of mouth advertising” instead of the traditional advertising efforts that cost a company a lot of money. In a network marketing affiliate program, individuals who become part of the program become “live advertisers”, where they refer the company’s products or services to people they know. If someone purchases a product or service, the referrer gets a certain percentage of the profit. If someone joins the network marketing affiliate program and does the same, the referrer also gets a certain form of commission.
These network groups are affiliated with a company that provides the products or services. One should be wary of network marketing affiliate programs that promise quick income with almost zero effort. Also avoid programs that require a large joining or sign-up fees. Review their network model and check out whether the model is realistic or not.
One common feature of companies that venture into a network marketing affiliate programs is that they encourage members to do direct selling. Check out the Direct Selling Association website www.dsa.org to see the companies authorized to implement network marketing affiliate programs.
