Perform Affiliate Marketing Like A Pro: Start With The Right Kind Of Website
Despite what you read in the numerous websites that promote this scheme, affiliate marketing is not as easy as it sounds. Sure, it sounds great on the onset. You could get an easy $5 dollars by putting up an ad banner on your site promoting a product or service from your affiliate partner. All you have to do is maintain your web pages, write some pieces enticing your traffic to click on through to your affiliate partners’ site, and you are done.
However, I think you have missed out on the part that you need at least a thousand clicks in order to be paid that easy $5. If you also have a visitor counter on your newly launched website, you might see that so far, you have had 612 visitors; and none of them have actually clicked on through. Suddenly that $5 seems too much of an effort to earn, right?
Right! So if you are really serious about making a lot of money when it comes to affiliate marketing, here are some tips on how you can do so like a pro!
1. Make your website as professional looking as possible. Okay, so maybe your budget is only for the construction and maintenance of a personal website. This does not mean that you cannot make it look professional.
If you have the necessary web development skills, then you should segregate web pages accordingly. Leave the opening page as your opening page with a brief introduction (and links) to the other pages of your website.
The one mistake that novice affiliates do is to mash everything to gather in one long, unmanageable page that takes forever to load. Remember, there are always other websites that offer the same products or services that are easier to load and navigate. Quit the cutesy stuff and go for less. This will make your site look and feel professional from the perspective of your potential clients.
2. Be hyper specific when it comes to your individual web pages. It is quite normal for affiliates to subscribe to a number of affiliate programs all at once. However, you need to make sure that the ads that appear on one particular web page belong to the same niche as all the other ads and the very content of the web page itself.
If you have affiliate partners that sell auto parts, try to pair it up with another affiliate from the same niche (companies that sell customized hub caps, or car hood ornaments, for example.) And then make sure your articles within that page give equal time to all the affiliate partners’ wares.
3. If you have other affiliate programs that do not belong to the same niche (which is quite common,) you need to add new web pages on your site dedicated to these. The same principle works here. You create a hyper specific web page with the ads and articles that belong to the same niche. However, you need to create very visible links to the other pages as well. This is in case your traffic decides to explore your site a bit.
